(MISSISSAUGA) — Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is thrilled to announce that the 13th Annual HyperMeeting organized in conjunction with Toronto Subaru Club (TSC) was once again a great success, raising significant funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Toronto. Held on Sunday, August 14, at SCI’s head office in Mississauga, ON, over 900 vehicles and their owners, friends, family and pets ventured out to meet and share their pride of Subaru ownership. Each year, the annual HyperMeeting raises funds for RMHC Toronto, as it is SCI and TSC’s charity of choice. This year a total of $18,500 was raised for RMHC Toronto by TSC, an amount matched dollar-for-dollar by SCI for a grand total of $37,000.
As one of the largest enthusiast shows held at a corporate head office in Canada, the HyperMeeting began with a fervent convoy of Subaru vehicles, representing an array of models, years and accessories, lining the streets leading to the office. The annual family-friendly event offered a complimentary barbecue, prizes and musical entertainment as well as various attractions that would appeal to the next generation of Subaru enthusiasts. With RC cars, special appearances by superhero characters, face painting, snow cones and custom colouring books, this year’s event ensured the children in attendance also had a great time.
“The Toronto Subaru Club and Subaru Canada HyperMeeting was once again a successful event bringing together Subaru enthusiasts from all over the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding areas. Having Subaru Canada acknowledge and work with our club shows progressive thinking and commitment to the owners of the Subaru brand”, said Derek Serianni, administrator of the Toronto Subaru Club. “Further, in working together we have managed to raise over $212,000 with the support of Subaru Canada over the past nine years (including this year’s donation), which demonstrates the commitment that Subaru Canada also shows towards the community. We look forward to many more years of working together to both increase brand loyalty and help our community.”
Subaru Canada selected RMHC Toronto as their charity of choice in 2000 and since then they have partnered on a number of initiatives to both raise funds and provide services and support to the families staying at the House.
RMHC Toronto provides a “home away from home” for seriously ill children and their families to heal better together. It operates a House for 81 families in downtown Toronto and Family Rooms in four hospitals across the GTA. Since 1981, RMHC Toronto has been host to thousands of families in need of a comfortable atmosphere of compassion and understanding during a frightening and stressful time in their lives. Last year alone, 750 families stayed at the House and close to 2,400 families visited its Family Rooms. Support from SCI will help RMHC Toronto continue to provide families with a safe and comfortable place to stay that is just steps from where their child is undergoing life-saving treatment.
