Subaru Canada has announced pricing and details for the new 2019 Subaru Crosstrek, which will be at dealerships before the end of July.
Same starting price
The good news right out of the gate is that the model’s starting price of $23,695 remains unchanged in comparison with 2018. The second-generation Crosstrek crossover also retains the generous lineup of passive and active security features and systems already present in the current model, which helped the model obtain the highest possible safety rating from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety).
The new Crosstrek is built on Subaru’s global platform, no surprise there, and comes equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder SUBARU BOXER engine wedded with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT Lineartronic automatic transmission, as well as Suburu’s vaunted symmetrical all-wheel drive system and an advanced suspension system.
All versions of the new Crosstrek get an updated infotainment system for 2019, which includes a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Other standard goodies include cruise control, A/C, power windows with mono-touch capability when opening/closing driver and front-passenger doors, 60/40 split fold-down rear seats, power lock and power-adjusted side-view mirrors.
New exterior and interior elements
The outside of the new 2019 Crosstrek gets a lightweight aluminum hood, the extended roofline with integrated brake light, 17-inch alloy wheels and integrated roof rails. Inside, Subaru highlights the addition of multi-function data display for fuel consumption, an inclinable telescopic steering column, protective carpeting and tinted glass on the rear doors.
The versions
The Touring version also gets heated front seats, premium upholstery, automatic climate control, automatic headlights, leather-wrapped steering wheel and a rear cargo cover.
For its part, the Sport version comes with directional headlights, power sunroof, power-adjustable driver’s seat, aluminum pedal, premium sport upholstery, two USB ports and an 8-inch screen, CD player and SiriusXM satellite radio for the infotainment system. Subaru’s rear/side vehicle-detection system with blind spot monitoring and rear transversal traffic alert has been included to provide an enhanced level of safety.
At the top of the Crosstrek range in 2019, the Limited rolls on 18-inch alloy wheels and comes with leather seating, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, a premium 8-speaker harmon/kardon audio system and an 8-inch screen for the infotainment system, along with GPS navigation.
Subaru EyeSight
Subaru’s vaunted safety and drive-assist system is available with the Sport and Limited versions of the new 2019 Crosstrek; it incorporates adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, sway alert and lane keep assist, among other systems.
